From Biedermann to arsonist: As the C 63 AMG, the well-behaved C-Class becomes a real dream combination.
What for a nasty seducer, the C-Class in the AMG version is. After a few kilometers behind the wheel, you can rhyme with very curious stories: everyday use, solid and damn stable in value – it could hardly be more sensible. When you look at the cost section, you quickly come to your senses. Nevertheless, it is difficult to resist the charms of the AMG. Just the responsiveness of the 6.2er: With every little movement of the toes in the right shoe, the throttle valves flit aside, and the T-model immediately pushes with a powerful voice – in every speed range! Almost astonishing: The giant unit hardly limits the driveability. The C 63 looks harmonious and not overgrown. If you can do without a cross lock and 30 more horsepower, you should decide against the performance package. Because the 487 hp version has a much harder chassis that stamps all bumps quite doggedly. The standard C 63 remains more digestible.

Our test car is on loan from the Stade car park. There are only star-shaped stamps in the service booklet, and there are no signs of battle apart from light stone chips. The price called appears fair. The three-year-old tires will soon have to be replaced at the rear. Not uncommon, sometimes they only last 8000 kilometers. With the facelift, the C 63 received the MCT transmission from SL and SLS. Instead of a converter, the MCT, which is as robust as it is comfortable, uses a starting clutch running in an oil bath for faster starts and gear changes. In the previously used 7G-Tronic, the control unit is integrated in the transmission. If the speed sensor fails, the entire unit must be replaced. Makes around 1500 euros. In contrast, the timing chain is no problem. Used vehicles with more than 250,000 kilometers are therefore not uncommon. But what can not really surprise anyone – such an AMG is a really fat seducer.
